All the often used construction materials, although they have a lot of advantages, are still powerless before the humidity. They can stand for decades, and sometimes for centuries, however they will be gradually collapsing under its impact. This is why waterproofing materials are important additional parts in works performance.
Waterproofing solutions have moistureproof and water-repelling features and it means that its application helps to extend the construction lifespan. Waterproofing solutions can be divided according to its types.
Such coating can be multil- or single-layer. The thickness strongly varies – it can be of one millimeter, as well as of several centimeters. It is used as the internal protection from capillary water, or as the external protection from subterranean waters.
It includes polyurethane-based, also mineral-based materials. This material is “pumped down” under pressure into brick, stone or concrete walls; for this purpose preliminary made special bores are used. Such thermal joint compounds penetrate into the structure, set from the inside filling up bugholes and capillaries. Today’s injectable waterproofing creates a strong protection and waterproofing layer, that prevents the humidity from penetration. Injection is used as a membrane waterproofing substitution, when it is difficult to use it – for example, when it is impossible to free the foundation from the ground.
It is used mostly for basement, roofing and foundation protection. Cold spraying allows to perform evaporable works fast and easy. It fits almost every material and relief, it is jointless. The used material doesn’t refer to inflammable ones and it is odor free. The additional advantage is a long lifespan.
Concrete penetrative waterproofing
Such materials have the penetrating power and they are made of cement with different chemical admixtures. The most frequent application fields are: concrete constructions repair and basement and foundation internal waterproofing. It has an interesting feature – it makes the concrete to “heal”. It happens by the reason of compounds presence that react with the water every time it gets to a construction surface. Today the concrete penetrative waterproofing is used both for new constructions erection and for reconstruction of old ones. When there is no access to external surface, the work is performed from the inside. If the old concrete is being repaired in such manner, before the work performance it is necessary to plaster and to deoil it. Only then the access to capillaries will appear and the penetrative feature will come out to the full extent.
